Two months ago on the podcast, I interviewed the Sundance Film Festival's Joe Beyer about his passion project: Rex Ranch. As Sundance's Director of Digital Initiatives, Joe has been involved in the waging of more Kickstarter campaigns than anyone I know. But when he finally took on a crowdfunding campaign of his own, he went bigger. Way bigger.
In the intervening weeks, the project to turn a decaying Arizona ranch into an arts collective has had more than its share of ups and downs. On Friday (Valentine's Day), Beyer released a video to recap much of it, and shared the fact that the bank that currently owns the ranch has granted yet another stay to allow the campaign to find the benefactor(s) to help make this dream a reality. I haven't talked to Joe since our interview in December but just from this video, you can tell a lot has been going on behind the scenes. Success seems tantalizingly close and miles away at the same time.
There are only a few days left to Save Rex Ranch. If the idea of co-founding a daring new artistic community appeals to you and you can help connect this ambitious group to the resources they need to make their vision a reality, please get check it out and get involved.
